The Next Voice 02 (formerly Oi! Australia's Song in EuSc) was the first edition of the contest that will select Australia's entry for the Europa Song Contest 7. The selection had 4 semis, and a final. Peking Duk won the edition with the song "Reprisal". Eves Karydas, the second placer, is to be the Australian spokesperson for the Europa Song Contest 7.

Information[]

Australia has always been following the contest since the very first edition in Bulgaria. However, for obvious reasons and despite previous attempts, Australia wasn't allowed to participate. SBS has always broadcast the contest, sometimes live, sometimes on delay. After receiving a special invitation from the EBU to participate in the Europa Song Contest, SBS automatically took charge in being the official broadcaster for the Europa Song Contest. Delta Goodrem was the first ever representative for Australia in the contest.

Voting[]

For all events (Except the superfinal), all results will be 50/50 on Jury and Televoting. The jury will consist of all 6 states (New South Wales, Western Australia, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, and Tasmania) and the 2 major cities (Sydney & Canberra). They will give 6-8, 10, and 12 points to all songs. On the other hand, the televoting will have the percentage earned as the basis of how many points they will get out of the total 258. For example, if a country gets 10% in the televoting, they will get 10% of 258 which is 26 points (0.1 x 258 = 25.8 = 26 points).After that, the two results will be combined, and whoever gets the top 2 (for the semis) or top 3 (for the final), will move on to the next stage. The superfinal will be purely based on the televoting results. Whoever has the highest accumulated percentage from the general public will be the next voice for Australia in the contest,

Format[]

This edition, there will be no song reveals, nor artist reveals before the songs. Instead, there will be a complete list of songs, together with their artists, to be released on a certain day. After that, the 4 semi-finals will all be held. 5 acts will be performing in each semi-final. The top 2 acts of each semi-final will move on to the grand final with a total of 8 acts. However, a jury panel will select a wildcard finalist that was eliminated in the semi-finals stage, meaning there will now be a total of 9 finalists. The top 3 of the final will be competing in the final duel wherein only the public can vote on which will be the next voice for Australia in the contest.
