On the 8th July 2018 the Head of Delegation of Turkey announced that the country would be taking part in the eighth edition, and on 20th July, that another National Selection would be help to choose the nation's entry.
The presenters were announced to be the Turkish actors Ipek Karapinar and Hazar Motan, once again after presenting the first edition.
Une Chanson pour la France commences with two semi-finals. The running order for the semi-finals are announced shortly before the semi-final.

The Qualifiers from the second semi final were Nil Karaibrahimgil with the song "Iyi Ki" and Merve Ozbey with the song "Vuracak".

The Qualifiers from the third semi final were Feride Hilal ft. Ilyas Yalcintas with the song "Sehrin Yolu" and Simge with the song "Ben Bazen".

The entries were revealed by TRT during a grand pre-show. Among the 15 entries thet were announced, South African duo No Method's "City Lights" and Aleyna Tilki ft. Emrah Karadumans's "Yalniz Cicek" were in too. "Yalniz Cicek" was replaced by the foreign act, Azusena's "In The Water", due to the song being a cover. Since the selection could not have two foreign acts, TRT decided to disqualify "City Lights" too, and Siva's "Tatli Telas" competed instead. No Method expressed their willingness to be the foreign act in the next edition, however, TRT rejected potential foreign acts in the near future after Azusena's victory.
Simge's "Ben Bazen" was selected to represent the country in the OGAE Second Chance Contest 08.
