Finland took part in the first edition of the Europa Song Contest which was hosted by the country in Sofia. The country was represented by Saara with the song "Superpowers". The entry was be selected via the broadcaster of the country, Finnish Radio. The song got the 15th place in the final with 76 points.
On April 10, Yle announced that the country planned an internal selection, for their act, letting no clue about who could be the Belarusian participant. It was announced that the entrant would be revealed, together with her song, on April 24.

On April 24 2017, the Finnish entrant was selected. It was chosen that Saara would represent Finland with his single "Superpowers".

At the allocation draw, Finland was drawn to vote in the second semi-final. At the running order draw, Finland was drawn to perform second in the second semi final, following Norway and in the final was drawn to perform nineth, following Ireland and preceding Ukraine.
Both the semi-finals and the final were broadcast by Yle. The Finnish HoD was the final and semi-finals television commentators respectively. Saara Aalto was the spokesperson that announced the Finnish voting in the final.
